Hello to all!!! We have so much to share and so much to look forward to in the next week and a half.. Everything from our little trip up north to Portland with a couple of stops to our Thanksgiving to a great baby shower to a Cheese Factory to A fun night dancing and more... and now we are counting down the days ( 8 days to be exact) to see what our baby will be boy or girl and four days until my mom come to California to visit Manny and I.
As we drove up north headed for Portland we decided to stay in San Fran for a few days and to pick up Ryan... The drive up seems like forever ago, I guess cause it was dark and we didn't see much... When we arrived in San Fran we met up with Ryan and went to the Mission Bar, from what we were told you can never call it The Bar Bar....The next day we decided to check out the new Science Museum located in the Golden Gate Park, it was crowed put we were there for one purpose.... THEY HAD AN ALBINO GATOR.. it was crazy looken and as Manny started at it thinking of shoes and a matching belt I was thinking that gator must be good eatin... The museum had a lot to offer but there were lines everywhere and we saw what we wanted..
THe next day in San Fran Manny and I decided we had to bring something to the Thanksgiving dinner we were invited to.. We only had to look at each other to remember what would be the best thing... We headed down to the Wharf to Boudin's Sourdough bread.. As we walked in we fell in love. Sitting in front of us was a two foot gator made of sour dough.. it was love at first sight. I think Manny and I will have to get one next year for the baby..
So we packed the car and were off to Portland. It was three of us and the gator.. Manny, Ryan, and I. The drive to Portland takes 9 hours so we had a couple pit stops...
WE had a great BBQ sandwich in a little town, it was so country i loved it!! Manny bought some local beer for a special occasion later that night..
As we saw the sun getting ready to set we all decided to head to Castle Crags and enjoy the sunset.. It was so nice and after Manny and Ryan enjoyed a great beer we headed back down and off to our destination... but of course there was a casino on the way and we had to stop and play a little.. i won 30 bucks but then lost it...
We finally arrived in Portland around 11 pm and headed to Kyle-Ts and Sara's house.
*** THANKSGIVING
Manny and I were invited to share thanksgiving with his old crew of friends of Portland. We all gathered at Arron Lacy's house and enjoyed the great food. They had everything from a stuffin to marsh mellow yams to corn dish and excellent turkey. After eating two plates of homemade apple pie and pumpkin pie i could not move.. we all hang out and rested. Than all of a sudden Sara and I looked over into the living room and there they were.. all the boys dancing and listening to 90s rave music with the lights off.. It was so silly.. The night ended with Manny's favorite movie, Charlie the Unicorn.
*** The day after thanksgiving or as Manny puts it... The biggest most shoppingest day shopped in the history of all shopping ever done in shopping history day.
Man what a crazy day. Manny, Sara-T, and I decided we would take a chance on the biggest shopping day of the year and check out the sales. We headed down town on the Max, the blue line.. (which is a metro train) as we proceeded to get off we realized we all needed a drink.. while in Portland I drank a lot of cider, which is one of the things I am into while pregnant.
We were off and ready to take on the crowds.. as we were headed to Nordstroms we were almost taken down by a mass of people in Pioneer Square.. for some reason in Portland they have to have their Christmas tree lighting ceremony on the biggest shopping day. Manny and I grabbed hands and were ready to take on the mob of people.. as we were headed through the crowd we came to a hault. There was this women holding her kid's hand about 3 feet away from her and in a "loud" voice ( she was yelling) " I'm not letting anyone headed of me" Manny and I said our words nicely and just went around her... Sara-T then jumped the fence and bet us to Nordstroms... it was crazy but more so the all the crazy people were out.
***Meeting Beatrix
Manny and I had the privilege of meet the new Beatrix, daughter of Dave and Tara. She was born 11/11/08 at 11:33 pm. In three years she is going to have the best birthday date, 11/11/11. She was tiny and Tara and Dave did such a amazing John creating something so precious. Beatrix is so little and Manny and I realized we are about to have a little one just like that in about 6 months.. :) They gave us a alot of tips and great books. I cant wait for the two babies to meet.
*** A Lazy afternoon
Manny and I went to Hawthorne bridge and took in the scenery and the cold.. It was so nice to be cold :) The colors were amazing and extremely saturated. I think the pictures below are great... Manny looks handsome!!
*** The Cheese Factory
For some reason I love factories and watching the process of how things are created and packaged oh and did i mention that Manny loves Cheese. I think he would name out kid Cheese if he could. So we headed to a cheese factory. The drive up was wet and the trees were beautiful... they looked like hairy antlers to me. When we arrived at the factory Manny new right were to go, to the FREE Samples.. They were so good!! WE then watched the video and went up to the factory glass windows to watch the people at work. It was weird though because we felt as if they were watching us... they stared at us in the windows as they guided the cheese... You would think machines could do all the work but they still have people doing some silly jobs.
We then had some ice cream and more cheese. Manny bough some cheese curds for the baby shower.
***The Baby Shower...
Manny and I had a baby shower in Portland on Dec 8th hosted by Josh and Missy. It was a great time.. old friends showed up to meet the new ones. The decorations set the mood of our little party.
We had 3 " hotdog and flamingo foil balloons accompanied by disco ball balloons. The wine took a trip with us from Santa Barbara to Portland and the finger food kept everyone coming back for more. The lobster centerpiece was the hit i do say.
After the friends caught up on each others lives... it was art time..Manny and I decided to have all of our friends decorate onesies for the baby. It was so much fun we had everything on a shirt for our baby from , "Public Domking Garfield" illustration created by Kyle-T to a "Scratch and Sniff" by Mikee.
After the creative time it was present time and as you will see Manny had the best time!!!
We received the best gifts from our friends.. from diapers to hats to little Adidas baby shoes, which by the way are super cute!!!
But I think the hit of the party was when we pulled the GATOR out of the bag!! The crowd went wild and Manny smile was so big as if it was raining peanuts outside...
IT was such a great baby shower full of wonderful friends and great memories.
**Seattle in 24 hours
We decided to take a little trip to Seattle and see the Frank Gehry Building (Experience Music Project Building) Space Needle and sites. When we opened the curtain in our hotel room our view was amazing and the sun was slowly going down... we then rode the SLUT (monorail) downtown to met up with our friend Mark who proceeded to show us the hip parts of town in four hours.. an art show, three bars, a sushi dinner, and a various Jimmi Hendrix sites as well as a creepy bar inside of a chapel. We then went back to the hotel and made a great peanut butter, jelly, banana, chocolate chip sandwich. On the way out of town we checked out Pike Market ( where they throw the fish) and used the bathroom at the FIRST STARBUCKS :)
